Adhocracy is conceived in a way that requires only a minimum use of moderation in order to prevent users abusing their power positions by influencing discourses asymmetrically. Thus, there is no “preventive moderation“ that decides if inputs will be published or not. Also, the relevance of the given inputs is determined by users only with the exception of deleting any criminally relevant contents.
However, moderation is required occasionally in cases of forgotten passwords, deletion of accounts that will no longer be used or further questions.
In the following we collected tips how user questions can optimally be realised, in order to support moderators of Adhocracy installings and instances:
1. Deleting inputs
As an “administrator“ you are able to delete comments, proposals, issues and user accounts. Thereby, you always proceed in the same way by accessing the particular site and clicking on the “delete“ –button at the top on the right. You possibly need to confirm the action to complete the process.
2. Deleting instances
This can only be conducted by the system administrator by clicking on the “delete“ -button on the starting page and confirming the action. For administrators there is a setting that allows them to “hide“ instances, so these cannot be found in the list, anymore.
3. Banning users
Further, user profiles can be banned by clicking on the particular button. This can be necessary if a user has to be removed from the platform due to misbehaviour. By „banning“ the particular user it is impossible for him or her to register again (with the same e-mail-address).
4. Changing password
If users forgot their password you need to access their profile. The quickest way to do this is via the „users“ site in the main navigation where all users are listed alphabetically. Then you click on the “edit“ button and type in the new password in both text boxes.
Important: Do only send the password to the stated e-mail-address!
5. Login does not work
Either the password is remembered incorrectly (see 4) or the user changed his or her name afterwards. If this is the case the user still needs to log in with the name that was chosen when registered. By choosing another user name, only the displayed name is changed.
